Frequently asked questionsabout Inverters and Backup power solutions
An inverter converts direct current (DC) electricity from a battery or solar panel into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used to power machines, appliances and devices.
The AC electricity generated by the inverter is then sent to a distribution panel or directly to the appliances and devices that require power. The inverter may also include safety features to protect against overload, short circuits, and other potential hazards.
The installation of a DB-connected inverter should only be handled by an electrician. We provide professional end-to-end installation of inverters to ensure your backup energy solution is implemented safely and seamlessly. Contact us to learn more.
The duration an inverter and battery backup system can last during load shedding depends on the size of the batteries and the power consumption of your devices and appliances. Battery capacity and power usage of devices are both measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
To calculate how long your system should last, divide the battery capacity by the total consumption of your devices. For example, if you have a 10 kWh battery and your devices consume 2 kWh, your system should last for 5 hours (10 kWh / 2 kWh = 5 hours). Note that with non-lithium-ion batteries, it is recommended not to discharge more than 50% per use and to keep them fully charged.
If you’re unsure about calculating your power needs or choosing the right backup system, don’t hesitate to contact our specialists for expert guidance and personalised solutions tailored to your requirements.
